Local

Jacksonville Oregon is a charming Americana small town. Did you know that Downtown Jacksonville was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966? The heart of downtown along West California Street is preserved in authentic late 1800’s boomtown classic Western style.

Learn More About Jacksonville

The look may be old fashioned, but the food, wine, shopping and arts are modern and some of the finest you will find in the West.

Food directions

Enjoying exceptional food is part of the Jacksonville experience. You will not find chain restaurants in Jacksonville, but specialty boutique eateries. Take an epicurean world tour in this small town with a lovely selection of fine dining establishments. We’ve picked some of our favorites and placed them in a Google Map for your navigation convenience.

Wine & Craft Beer directions

If you love wine, craft beer & spirits, you’re coming to the right town! There is at least one tasting room or tavern serving craft beers & spirits on every block of downtown Jacksonville. While it is a short and easy walk, there’s also the option of taking an Allaboard Wine Trolley Tour. Be sure to check out our Discover Oregon Wine Tour listed below for a selection of wine tasting day trips.

Shopping

Have you ever dreamed of having an alpaca wool sweater, hand-crafted paraben free soaps, traditional native american turquoise & silver jewelry, fine art, or the perfect keepsake from your vacation? The artisan shops of downtown Jacksonville are sure to please. Our region draws talented, creative artists, who fill our shops with special treasures and unique gifts.

Art & Culture

Nationally famous, the Britt Pavilion is a large outdoor concert venue that hosts the Britt Festival every year. The concert series runs several weeks throughout the summer and includes orchestras, classical ensembles, jazz, classic rock, and much more. Just 15 minutes away in Ashland, you will also find the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Advanced ticket purchases are recommended for both venues.

All commercial facilities and most administrative areas are accessible as well. Some picnic areas have wheelchair-accessible parking, bathrooms and tables. Most park restrooms are accessible, and many of the paved overlooks on Rim Drive have low cross-slopes and accessible exhibits. The only access to the shore of Crater Lake is the steep and difficult Cleetwood Cove Trail. This trail is not recommended for wheelchairs, or for those with mobility or health impairments. Service animals are welcome on all park trails and buildings when on duty.

Visit the Oregon Caves

Deep within the Siskiyou Mountains are dark, twisting passages that await your discovery. Eons of acidic water seeping into marble rock created and decorated the wondrous "Marble Halls of Oregon." Join a tour, get a taste of what caving is all about, and explore a mountain from the inside and out.

The National Park Service offers four unique cave tours: Discovery, Candlelight, Kids & Family and Off-Trail. Visit NPS Webiste for Details language

Please be aware that the cave tour is physically demanding. It requires the ability to walk and stoop through narrow, twisting passages, including an 88-foot (27m) passageway with ceilings as low as 45 inches (114 cm), and the ability to ascend and descend over 500 steps, many of them steep, uneven and/or without handrails.

Reservations up to one day ahead of visit: www.recreation.gov
Same Day tickets available at park

Accessibility

Watson's Grotto, the first room of the cave, is accessible to visitors using wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, and similar devices. However, the cave beyond is physically too narrow to accommodate these devices. Rangers are happy to accompany people with wheelchairs and walking devices into Watson’s Grotto.

What you need to know

Dress accordingly! The temperature inside the caves is always around 44°F, regardless of the weather outside the caves. In summer, be sure to pack a sweatshirt!

Explore the Redwoods

Get lost in time exploring the ancient redwood forest. Ranging from 500 to 3000 years old, these giant trees inspire awe and wonder as you meander through the road and trail systems. As one of the first protected ecosystems, the redwoods offer expansive old growth forests and pristine rivers.

Many of our guests stay with us, close to Interstate 5, before or after taking the Redwood Highway 199 towards the coast. Our inns provide unparalleled quality and amenities that can be difficult to find on the rural southern Oregon and northern California coast.

Accessibility

Redwoods National Park is a diverse park with landscapes as varied as beaches, forests, hills, trails, open prairies and wild rivers. The National Park Service and California State Parks strive to make the parks universally accessible to all. However, extra obstacles will be encountered in places because of the wild nature of this special place.

Visit The National Parks Website To learn more.

All Country House Inns are ADA Accessible, however according to feedback, the Country House Inns properties for people with mobility disabilities are Riverside Inn in Grants Pass, Wine Country Inn in Jacksonville and Wildlife Inn in Winston.
